Harvey CEO Recruits Successful Military & Defense Executive for Board of PE-Backed United Tactical Systems, LLC
In August 2014, Harvey CEO successfully placed an experienced defense and security executive on to the Board of United Tactical Systems, LLC, a private equity-backed provider of less-lethal weapons for military, government, law enforcement, private security and consumer markets.
United Tactical Systems, based in Lake Forest, Illinois, designs, manufactures, and markets high quality irritant-filled projectiles and associated air launcher under the industry-leading PepperBall brand. PepperBall’s solutions provide military and law-enforcement personnel a safe, effective tool for use in crowd control and one-on-one scenarios. PepperBall products are widely adopted across US and international law enforcement and military agencies. Along with its launchers and projectiles, the company offers comprehensive training services.
The executive was most recently CEO of the world’s leading manufacturer of advanced counter-IED devices and explosives handling equipment, a company that he formed in 2003. During his tenure, the company grew from scratch to a peak of $300 million revenue and $120 million EBITDA. Earlier in his career, he founded a manufacturer of simulated, non-lethal munitions based on a proprietary technology he invented. The business was acquired by SNC Technologies, Inc. and was ultimately one of the primary drivers of SNC’s acquisition by General Dynamics in 2006. The company continues today under General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems as the world’s leading manufacturer of non-lethal simulated munitions for the global military and defense market.
