Founded in 1990, Royal is Canada’s leading omnichannel specialty retailer serving the enthusiast powersports market for snowmobile, ATV, UTV, dirt bike, motorcycle, and watersports aftermarket products. The Company serves a loyal base of customers through a comprehensive e-commerce platform, as well as its five Canadian retail locations.
While Royal maintains strong roots in retail, the company’s omni channel business model has cemented their reputation for delivering an extensive breadth of products wherever and whenever. The catalyst for Royal’s significant ecommerce growth stems from the current management team’s capabilities and their drive to further position the company as a D2C powerhouse.
In the midst of implementing several infrastructure initiatives (such as automated warehousing and a new website pictured below), Harvey & Company introduced the management team to an equity group that could provide support and additional resources to pursue accelerated growth.
Following our prior success in specialty aftermarket distribution, we were seeking to leverage that experience in other markets. Harvey & Company identified Royal as the ideal platform upon which to build through acquisition, geographical expansion, and further investment in automation. Harvey & Co. approached the ownership, who wasn’t actively considering a partner at the time, and presented a compelling vision to the shareholder group. Given the active shareholders’ desire to maintain the company culture and pursue acquisitions of their own, Harvey & Co. introduced an investment group dedicated to the continuity of the team, brand, reputation and culture that goes with founder and family-owned businesses.
March 2023 – Just 4 months after the initial investment in Royal, Harvey & Co. initiated Royal’s acquisition of Revco, the leading Canadian-based ecommerce retailer of aftermarket parts, accessories and performance gear primarily serving the ATV/UTV powersports market. The acquisition has resulted in accelerated D2C ecommerce growth for the combined platform, as well as complementary product lines and brands in enthusiast vehicle product categories.
